This changes everything! I fab custom Life Support Systems for Aquariums and cut pipe from 1/2" to 2" all day long. It is accurate, eazy, quick and reasonably safe if you engage your brain. The old ratchet style cutters gave me a trigger finger and my hands ached all the time. This is perfect! What a great idea! Lawn sprinkler installers? Commercial plumbers? This is the best thing! If you try it, I swear you'll never go back!
Keep it closed as the balde is razor sharp. Count your fingers ---
If you let the pipe lie on the cutting rest it will cut square to the length and make a perfect "end" ready to chamfer and glue. Get in a hurry and it will cut a slanted end. Cycle time is less than 5 seconds - so - go ahead and take your time. If you have to trim a short piece get eye protection - it can shatter pipe.
I recently cut over a hundred 2", sched 40 pipe pieces on one battery and it never even slowed down. Battery recharges in about a half hour.

This tool does exactly what it says and does it well... I can't count how many times I've cut ABS with a sawzall and found my cut was not straight (especially when I'm in a hurry and quit taking my time)... I end up going back over the pipe trimming the high side and then of course having to clean the pipe around the cut area... This thing works flawlessly and in just 2 seconds I have a straight, clean cut... It does seem to place alot of pressure on the pipe before the blade actually starts to cut and "don't think" it would work all that well for cutting close to the end of the pipe... It seems like it could possibly crush the pipe (I haven't had the need to use it in that manner so far and this is only an assumption on my part, which I guess I should have left out of this review all together)... All in all a great tool and a total time saver...

I am a pool professional. As part of that business I make PVC plumbing repairs and I upgrdade equipment. I used to use a hand saw or a recip saw to cut PVC pipe. The hand saw was tedious and the recip saw was too heavy. Both of these left jagged, uneven cuts and a handfull of "shavings". When I saw the Milwaukee Cordless PVC Shears I just had to try them. I figured I'd return them if they were just another "gimmick". I almost did a cartwheel the first time I used them!!!! The shears cut 2" shcedule 40 pipe in about 3 seconds. The cut is clean, straight, and free of shavings. A few things you need to know: 1) maximum on schedule 80 is 1.5". 2) older pipe may crack and therefore EYE PROTECTION IS IMPERATIVE. The older the pipe the easier it cracks. I still use a hand saw to cut older pipe. 3) Be aware of where your fingers are! This cutter has a lot of tourqe and it doesn't know the difference between pipe and fingers. There is a "think twice" trigger unlock button. They put it in a spot which makes it cumbersome to push it and pull the trigger at the same time. This is my only negative comment ans is a small price to pay for the ease with which these shears work.

First off, Amazon are amazing when it comes to service. i was expecting afew weeks to get this in the mail, less than a week and it was at my door!
Firstly i must point out i am in the pool indistry and go through in excess of 400-500meters of PVC pipe a week. This tool is usless for cutting class 9 or schedule 10 pipe (for you yanks) or anything lower it just crushes the pipe and you get a face full of PVC. Even class 12 or sch 30 is a fair push for these shears, when it cuts it's great but i can only guess that around 30% of the time you still get flakes chipping off the end of your cuts. Higher classes/schedule has no problem but kills the battery in at about 80cuts. Also i should make a note that i have tested these on two different manufactures pipe just to be sure it was the shears that suck and not the pipe. Stick to your saws if this is your primary purpose
On to soft stuff. I honestly think these shears were designed manly for this purpose, it cuts through any soft tuping like butter so for all you home irrigation guys cutting anything under 2' this would pay for itself in afew months their fantastic for sillicon, PEC, polly pipe and your common garden hose. If this is what you will be using them for then order some now because their fantastic.
All up im not happy with this product mainly because it dosent suit my needs, on the upside at least you get a plumb level via redemption.
