The perfect organizer November 22, 2001 Altan Ozcandarli (Wilmington, MA USA) 31 out of 32 found this review helpful
The bins are separate from the container and very arangable. I often take a bin out of it to the work location without carrying the whole container - I find that very convenient. The bins are held very securely by protrusions in the lid when the container is closed. I can carry it and store it vertically without anything getting out of place and without fear of the lid popping open (it locks very nicely and securely). Only the bin's contents move within the bins, the bins stay put. The lid is very clear, so I can easily see what's in it. It seems quite tough, not fragile. Ever since I bought one at Sears I have been looking for more to buy, until now without success. I cannot tolerate any other organizer anymore. I am delighted to see it at Amazon now, so I will buy one or two more! (I am also considering the deep version.)

I really appreciate this design. It locks the seperate bins in place when the top is closed. It has a clear and durable lid. The snaps on the front are very solid but may be a bit aggressive for those with less strong fingers. However releasing the snaps is done with minimum edges hurting your fingers (so you don't cringe too much when having to open it). The snap closures will definitely hold the lid shut. The handle is very strong and not sharp as are many, many plastic handles. The units interlock when stacked. You can label the handle with a decent degree of certainty that the label won't come off due to texturing. The only complaint I have, and it is a persistent one with almost all storage MFRs., is that the bins should have a radiused front walls for easy removal of smaller items. I am a mech./plastics design engineer and for what it's worth, this is a very nice product (no i don't work for Stanley). Get 3 or 4 for that special someone. I'm stocking up as you read this :-)
My rock and mineral collection May 7, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I collect rocks and minerals. My mom bought me this organizor. I identify rocks and them put them in a compartment. I can label the compartments with my mom's label maker so I know which rocks and minerals I have. The lid closes really well so my rocks don't mix together. I like that the compartments come out so I can look at them. I like the clear cover also so I can show other people my rocks without them touching them. I really like this organizor a lot.

This is a really great product. When I ordered, I thought it was just one tray with movable dividers. Actually, it's a bunch of individual bins of different sizes. That means you can re-arrange them at any time without emptying them. I ordered three, and I love being able to shuffle the little bins around if I need more large-size bins in my electrical case, for example.
The thin profile, clear top, secure latches, and comfortable handle are all excellent. The variety of bin sizes is also perfect for most uses I can imagine (or least perfect for anything I've needed so far!)
I have three and will probably order more. One for screws, one for electrical, one for misc small hardware... I'm pretty sure I can organize my whole shop with these. Suddenly these kinds of small parts "cabinets" seem ridiculous: Plastic Drawer Cabinet - 27 Drawers ...who wants those tiny bins that are hard to see into and aren't portable? Now everything is "at my fingertips" instead. Highly recommended!
I have a lot of these March 22, 2009 bektek (NJ) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have a lot of these organizers for work, holding everything from heavy hardware to light plastic fittings, and several more for my kids' toys--legos, knex, and magnet sticks and balls. Stanley got a lot right with this one. I read some of the other reviews, so a couple of comments...The only time hardware and parts fall out of the top of the bins and down along the lid when you're carrying them is when you are REALLY loading the bins up with some heavy shim washers or stainless steel BBs, etc., so the weight of the hardware pushes against the lid when it is closed and in the carrying position, but it's REALLY gotta be heavy for this to happen. The other time it can happen is when a screw or something is sticking up above a bin, not letting the lid seat properly when you snap it shut. Molded on the inside of the lid are small channels in the shape of crosses that seat across the lips of multiple bins, allowing the lid to close down flush against the tops of the bins, and holding them in place when moving about. Like many other reviewers, I love the mix n' match aspect of the small yellow bins that fit these organizers, especially when you have a lot of them--you can move them from box to box, orient different sizes in different arrays, etc. If I had a gripe, it's that the organizers don't sit too stable when you set them down in the upright or "suitcase" position, which is handy when you are moving them about a lot. They kind of want to fall over to one side fairly easily, especially as they become heavier toward the handle with loading. Stanley could've molded some very inconspicuous "feet" in the bottom to solve this, but it's a minor thing, given their sturdy performance as organizers. Or just forget about standing them up altogether, my guys throw these around like luggage handlers at JFK and they stay shut, never popped open yet, and haven't cracked or chipped, even in cold weather in the van. Another minor gripe is that the same plastic nubs molded into the bottom that allow them to "nest" well and stay put as a vertical stack also make them a hassle to try to slide out, when you store them side by side by side, they grab on to each other--but once again, it's more my problem, not a problem with the unit. A little habit you might want to adopt is that you either leave the lid open, or you close AND snap it...if you close it, but don't snap it, invariably there will come the time when you pick up the organizer to happily put it away, but are startled by hundreds of screws, nuts and bolts, carefully sorted by size, material, lustre, sentimental value, cost, weight, inherent possibility, karma, scarcity, silliness...however you organize...as they hit the deck with an impressive metallic splash...2 minutes of sheer delight for everyone else in the room ("Hey, just put those anywhere!") and two hours of picking up and reorganizing for you, and you'll never get the lustres the same way you had them before. So open it or snap it shut, no in between. As far as removing the sticker, it's a zen thing--take a deep breathe, carefully peel up a corner, and S-L-O-W-L-Y start to peel it back across the diagonal. Did I mention to do this S-L-O-W-L-Y? Never had a problem with any of my hinges, and as far as the price goes, well, what's a good tool or product worth? You want an organizer that's far and away better than similar models but only want to pay 10 bucks? Well, me too. But I'll happily pay what they're asking because it works and I don't have to put up with poor-performing crap every day when I'm working. Home Depot and/or Lowe's has the large bin models, and sometimes Target has the small bin models, if you need one today. Get going.
