| Customer Reviews: Excellent quality at a great price! Very pleased. October 30, 2009 mister e. shoppa (USA) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I recently saw a "name brand" set of cordless compact tools almost identical to this at Costco, and it was $299! Surely this PowerSmith combo is one of the best 12 volt cordless values around. All of the tools are intelligently and well made, and of a good weight, neither heavy nor light. There are several features which I appreciate such as the LED illumination for the 3/8" drill with keyless chuck and 23 step clutch. All appear to function flawlessly. I also noticed the motor really stops instantly when the trigger is released. And torque is great for small to medium jobs, or cutting wood up to the recommended thickness of about an inch.
Regarding several comments I have read concerning "battery problems" with PowerSmith 12 volt lithium-ion batteries, I've researched the matter and it appears that this battery takes a little extra muscle to push it fully into the charger socket, with prongs fully engaged. Evidently, quite a few customers have not pushed the battery firmly enough to get that "second click", and consequently the battery charger will show a malfunction. The manufacturer is well advised to add a comment in the instructions regarding this detail, but other than that, I can easily recommend this 12 volt cordless combo to all budget conscious craftsmen who want maximum quality for the dollar. For those who must own only "top name brands" of tools such as Milwaukee, DeWalt or Makita, they can opt for them at twice the price.
Plenty of Power, Great set of tools May 19, 2010 Richard Smith Great set of tools for round the house jobs and yet strong enough for on the job projects. I am an asphalt paver and I run my own crew and do a variety of services and projects and I use these tools there as well. Great price for strong tools. Ilove them
OK value for the price. March 18, 2010 Waseem Akbar (New Orleans, LA USA) OK stuff for the price. Build quality is not that impressive but its fine enough for the price. I haven't put it to some meaningful test so, can't vouch for the quality. But looks like it can handle average kinda loads not heavy ones. LED light is not impressive at all though!
Better then expected June 27, 2010 H. Bailey I wanted a lithium powered cordless drill to use for odd jobs around the house so I bought this. I did expect any of the tools to be very useful but hoped the drill would at least be good.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the drill was very powerful and could easily drive 3 inch screws into 2x4s.
The circular saw and the reciprocating saw are only useful for cutting thin material but the reciprocating saw was perfect for finishing out some bird mouth cut in 2x6s and both tools are handy.

I bought this for installing a pergo floor, the saw cut the end off the 7 1/2 planks with no problem, but when i tried to make a lengthwise cut, 47 1/2 long, the saw bogged down and wouldnt cut it. also the drill reverse switch is so close to the trigger, that it hits it when your drilling, and shut it down. as the planks are only 3/8 thick, I thought it would be great.
