Product Description: The Mastech luxmeter LX1010B can measure up to 50,000 lux, approximately 5,000 footcandles. It's used for checking the level of luminance, luminance is a measure of the amount of light falling on a surface. It is defined as: 'the density of the luminous flux incident on a surface'. It is the quotient of the luminous flux by the area of the surface when the latter is uniformly illuminated. - (E = df / dA). Just what I wanted.
I needed a simple, uncomplicated Lux meter to assess light levels at work and at home for a health condition. This meter was perfect. Easy to operate and gave me the information I needed.

It would of been nice to receive have the operating instructions included!!

Easy to use; very sensitive.
I purchased this product for my daughter's science fair project in which she measured light intensity. This meter has three levels of sensitivity and is very accurate and easy to use. It was able to measure light through water, air and fog for all the bands of visible light and had an easy to read digital output. I was very happy with this product and would reccomend it to anyone who requires a light meter.
