Works Well
This device works. I use it to guage the moisture content in my firewood. It provides an easy to read digital display in a split second. It's well worth the money.

Extech MO200
Great product. Used it for determining when walls (wood paneling and gypsum board) were dry after a flood. Gave me the information I needed to successfully dry out my house.
The only con is that it does not have a way to hold the current reading. This means you must always be able to see the screen when you take a reading. It would have been better if it would hold the reading so you could use it in hard to access places where you could not see the screen.
That is the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 rating.

Works great
I've had this for several months now and have used it quite a bit to dry all the oak for a staircase I'm building to the same moisture levels. It's very easy and clear to use. Nice and small too. Would recommend it to anyone.

Moderate cost meter works well
A few years ago, a slipshod roofer put a new roof on a winterized porch. Recently, the roof failed and we suffered extensive water and mold damage. I purchased this meter to measure and monitor the moisture content of the framing damaged by the incoming water, since the antifungal spray we intend to use can only be applied when the moisture content is below 18%. The Extech seemed like a nice compromise between the $300+ professional models and the cheapest ones available.
We have been very pleased. The Extech is easy to use and care for. The directions were very clear. The on/off switch is the cap, so the electrodes stay protected. (If you forget to replace the cap, it will turn itself off, even without the cap replaced in 15 minutes.) The meter has easy calibration test and low battery modes. It comes with batteries already installed as well as a number of replacement electrodes. Taking measurements is quick and easy and readings seem to be consistent from measurement to measurement.
I have only two criticisms. First, the meter has no memory; as soon as you pull the electrodes away from the substrate the meter returns to zero. This means you have to be able to see the meter to read the measurement. You can't stick the probe into a difficult to reach area, and then pull it out to read the moisture content. This made for some awkward neck twisting to read the meter's measurements in some of the joist spaces. Second, the batteries it uses are not one of the standard household sizes, so a trip to Radio Shack or a camera store is probably going to be necessary to purchase new batteries. Otherwise, a flawless performance.
I would recommend this meter to anyone who wants a reliable, easy to use, relatively inexpensive moisture meter.

Great product
Recently had water damage from frozen pipe. My tolerance for mold is nil. After the insurance company's recommended extractors of water left.. I checked the areas affected and not only found it incredibly accurate as compared with their high priced meters, but I found areas they missed. A great product... highly recommend.
