JET JJ-6CSX Jointer - Good value
I think this is a good value for the price. I compared this model with Delta, and couldn't justify the additional cost for the Delta. If you do woodworking for a living, you'll probably want something better, but for the serious woodworker/hobbyist, I think this is a good product and I wouldn't go with anything cheaper. I've used mine regularly for about four months. A few things I've found: using a vacuum/dust collector is a almost a necessity as chips accumulate quickly. If you don't, you'll at least need to clean the chip chute frequently. Setting up the outfeed table and blades can take quite awhile (depending on how much of a perfectionist you are), but once I got it set, I've had no problem. I give it four stars because although I've been woodworking for a long time and have done my research, this is my first jointer, so I don't have first hand experience with other products to compare this one to. Product shipment and delivery was quick and professional.

Gotta love it
I'm very happy with this jointer. I'll be retiring an old Craftsman machine now! The Jet went together fairly easily and didn't need any major adjustments. It cuts very smoothly and can handle the hardest wood I've run over it. The length of board it can handle is limited by the bed length, but I don't build a lot of furniture that requires pieces longer than 4 or 5 feet.

Nice machine
I have had this machine for about 6 weeks, and it has been flawless. Pretty straightforward to assemble (the manual is very good), and nicely finished.
It runs with a smooth, powerful hum that suggests a solid, quality machine. I have planed and jointed cherry, maple, ash, and cocobolo with good success and without any complaints from the machine. Dust collection with a shop vac is pretty good.
I picked the machine up locally, and so cannot comment on packing/shipping issues.
I'm planning on converting the machine to run on 230VAC. If I have anything to report after that, I'll amend this review. But so far, highly recommended.

Great tool
I had a 4" craftsmen jointer for years and decided to upgrade my shop with a 6" jointer. Reviewing various models, I decided on the Jet 6CSX. My shop is pretty small and this machine fits well in the spot I had picked out for it.
Machine assembly is realtively easy. It is heavy though. Two people needed to carry it down into my shop area, prior to assembly. After realizing how heavy this jointer was, I purchased a HTC mobile base. I highly recommend that a mobile base be used if you have any intent on moving this jointer in your shop.
Once it was assembled, set up was very easy. Once turn on, it purred like a kitten, versus the noise that my 4" jointer used to make. And the cuts were smooth as silk. I tested flattening a cupped 4 inch pine board and after a couple of passes, the board was flat as could be.
For the money, this is a top notch machine and an asset to my work shop.

A great addition to my shop
I investigated Delta and Grizzly before deciding on Jet. I always liked Jet products but for one reason or another selected other manufacturers for other tools. This time Jet got the "nod" and I purchased a planer. Since I have a DeWalt planer I bought the Jointer largely to finish off edges for panel joining and just plaing edge cleaning. The jointer arrived as expected. Assembly was fairly easy with no major (or minor) issues. I hadn't used a jointer in long time but found the Jet easy to align and adjust. Now that I have it, I use this tool all the time for edge joining. The rabbeting and angled jointing features are nice but with a routing table, I really haven't had the call to use these functions yet. This is a great addition to the shop.
