Avg Customer Rating:
Product Description: One of the first companies to design plate joiners, DeWalt makes one powerful slot-cutting tool. Some people argue that joiners are joiners, and while it's true that a slot is a slot, how you cut it makes a heck of a lot of difference. What impresses us about DeWalt's plate joiner is the stout, dual rack-and-pinion fence. Operating with striking smoothness, the fence locks tightly in place and ensures that the joiner's blade and fence are always parallel--which means accurate joints every time. The DeWalt is also the only plate joiner on the market with a fully adjustable tilt fence: the face plate tilts 0 to 90 degrees, so you can join work at whatever angle the job requires (22-1/2 degrees, say, if you're working in octagons). Cabinetmakers will appreciate the convenience of being able to make flush cuts at 0 degrees without having to remove the fence. The 6-1/2 amp motor spins the tool's carbide blade at 10,000 rpm, making remarkably quick, clean cuts. We found the gauges easy to read and easy to set, a big plus (there's nothing worse than wrestling with or squinting at a tool every time you make adjustments). DeWalt's joiner also has preset stops for all common biscuit sizes and there's a handy vacuum adapter that allows you to hook up suction to keep dust in the shop to a minimum--always a good idea. --Jon Groebner

Review
I purchased a new Dewalt 682K. The instructions were not great, especially for me (a relatively new woodworker). However, the problem was the depth gauge for the plunge--none (0, 10, 20, M) worked. With the exception of 0 (which was much deeper than it should have been), the other three were all the same depth. So, I took it back to the vendor (Western Tool). They pulled out a floor model to compare. Its depth guage didn't work either! That was the end of my Dewalt biscuit joiner.

Great Tool
I order this tool for a special project and was ready to use it as soon I got it out of the box. I started to cut the first joint and the handle collasped forward and smashed by fingers. On closer inspection I found that the threads in one side of the handle were stripped completely out. With care I continued to use the tool to finish the project. Later I filled the hole with metal epoxy and re-threaded it. I am sure dewalt would have made it good but I didn't have time. Somewhat dissapointed but the tool works great if you keep your fingers "from between the bricks"

Piece of Junk
I purchased a factory reconditioned (with full warranty) DeWalt plate joiner. Not only was it missing a pin on which the miter swivels up and down, but the blade cut far too deep, no matter how much I adjusted it. I had to stick a 16p nail in the missing hole to keep the miter from flopping around while working. It was a good thing I made many test cuts since it cut far deep. For example, on setting "0" it cut so deep that a "0" biscuit completely disappeared in the cut. I was finally able to crank the fine depth adjustment down so that on "0" setting I could use a "10" biscuit. I normally purchase DeWalt by default since I have never had anything but good luck with them, but boy did I get screwed on this one. Fortunately the retailer is taking it back based on the 90 day money back guarantee. I am honestly not sure I want to chance another DeWalt joiner at this time.

Dewalt plate joiner
For a tool with the lowest price, I'm totally satisfied. My younger brother stole my last one, so I needed another joiner. No need to change what works !!

dewalt biscuit joiner issue
This product is poorly built. The stop is made with flimsy pot metal about 1 mm thick. Mine broke after 1 use. Just looking at it you can see it is weak but I could not from the internet pictures. Harbor Freight, Makita,Hitachi, and Ryobi have a better products at less than half the price!
