Precision Machine
In my opinion I prefer the round base trimmers over the square ,simply because I feel the square base you have to turn the trimmer as your moving around your square piece and press hard to keep it flat so that you do not scorch your laminate. With the round base you have a little bit more square inch of machine on your material. I really enjoy using this 3" round base machinery better.
I also like the grip around this particular machine for easier maneuvering around your work pieces.

weak base plate design
I have used this router many years ago in a cabinet shop that did laminate trimming on a daily basis. Although It did a fine job trimming and felt great in the hand the one major flaw is the motor base does not fully support the base plate, hence if this router is dropped and is hit at the unsupported base it will crack off, after all these base plates are hard brittle plastic. Being a production router, used everyday, as careful as you are this can happen eventually. What does make this a nice trimmer is that it is not at all top heavy (common with trimmers).

Its called the love tap...
This is an amazing trim router. Ive used pretty much every other one out there and this one is far and away the best. As for the sticking bit problem; Ive had it with everyone Ive ever used but the magical wrench tap always works. Ive found that having one wrench around the collet nut and tapping the other wrench against the first is a better way to release the bit as this reduces the risk of damaging the threads on the actual collet.

Too Good to be gone from the market!!
This router/ trimmer has been taken off the market, and replaced. These are the handiest routers for a number of jobs, and I really hate to see them go. Built sturdy and with plenty of power, they will be very hard to replace!!

PC 310 trim router
I have the pleasure of having 3 of these routers. All made in the USA. I am a tool junkie to say the least. This is by far the best of the trim routers I have. It is a joy to use. I also have a Bosch Colt with variable speed that is nice. Also a Ryobi TR30U that is a great little router and a DeWalt trimmer. The P-C just feels better in my hand and is easier to adjust then the others. Sometimes the collet sticks but a small tap with the arbor wrench on the collet nut is all it takes. I myself love the 2 wrench set up instead of the single wrench on the Bosch and DeWalt trimmers. If P-C would put a variable speed or 2 speeds on this router it would be great ! Maybe even a self releasing collet to top it off. Oh and the P-C should be made in the USA for the money that they get for it. What a shame that its made in Mexico now.
