Customer Reviews
Very pleased
This Makita replaced a 20 year old Craftsman circular saw that had developed a bent arbor. I was impressed right out of the box. The depth and angle movements were smooth and easy to adjust. The magnesium base slides very nicely on the building material. Saw is a good weight - not tiresomely heavy, not cheap-y light.
I thought the LED light at the cutline was a gimmick and wouldn't be worth much - but let me tell you, in the fading light of day when I was trying to get those last pieces of siding cut and installed, that light was a fantastic bit of engineering!
I'm pleased and would recommend this saw.

Check the alignment.
I checked this saw out at the local big box store and it seemed very well made. The floor model was made in Japan so I bought it. When I got it home I checked the alignment of the blade and it was out by about 3/32 front to back. Also this one was made in China. I brought it back in favor of the Milwaukee. Other than that it seemed like a nice saw.

Great saw if you are Right Handed
My husband has been in construction for ages, he's a carpenter and we have recently started a construction company. He needed a few new tools for the hotel he's currently building so this saw was one of a few purchases we made from Amazon.
The saw works wonderfully, and cuts exactly what it is supposed to cut, I WOULD give this saw 5 stars, if either my husband or myself were right handed (not that I plan on using it much). The problem for those of us who are lefties is that the blower blows the sawdust directly into your face, no getting around it. We've basically handed this saw off to our right handed saw guy to use. I am sure that somewhere out there Makita makes a left handed version, but in the meantime we're out shopping for a different saw.
If you are right handed, this is an excellent saw for the money and has held up well for both a school remodel and building a 4 story hotel so far. Just beware if you are left handed that you should try to either find a left handed model, or get a different saw.
Another random note - If you order from amazon, you will have to have a person at home to sign for the delivery. It wasn't a problem for us, but you should know since amazon doesn't have that listed anywhere.

Second Makita saw
This is the second Makita circular saw I have purchased. The 1st one is still going strong after 12 years. This saw is lighter and easier to use than its predecessor with good power. Only issue I have is that all the circular saws I have used seem to blow the sawdust all over you and this one is no exception. Other than that, very good saw for the money.
