For the $55 price tag it works
While not the best planer out there, for the $55 price tag it works. If you are doing exacting woodworking I'm sure you'll be disappointed. I used it to correct some bowing studs, and to bevel new door slabs. It handled both jobs with ease. The cutter is sharp, and the shoe was true.

Made in Spain.
This plane is not well finished and lacks an accurate depth adjustment. While it's cheap I think the also cheap Ryobi does a better job albeit without carbide blades.

Fine Quality Power Tool
Quite simply the Freud FE82K is the finest power planer that I've ever used . . . and I've used a number of them including the best current and older models from Bosch and Porter-Cable. This power planer feels perfectly balanced, is very smooth running, and looks like is built to last. Don't let the low price scare you into thinking that the Freud FE82K is a "home-owner" grade power tool, because it's not. It's pro-grade inside and out and made for daily use. I have no idea why it's price so low on Amazon.com, but I'm not complaining. If you are looking to upgrade your present power planer or buying your first, you will be pleased with the Freud FE82K.
